Default Typical defense set ups for weapons?

So I'm still attempting to learn PvP (Even more so when I get a new laptop,) and need to know just what constitutes as a "Defense" set. I'm going to be running a Derv, so far I've got a Vampiric Scythe and Cruel Scythe set up, the Cruel to cover for Vamp degen until I get into battle/when I Codex with WS.

It's a spear of fortitude and a shield with +30 hp and a +10 armor against each type of damage. You're meant to have multiple shields with armor against each element that you swap depending on circumstance.

Not sure what is meant by Defense set up. But a zealous scythe can be very handy keeping energy up.

zealous scythe is probably not needed considering you have atleast 12 mysticism playing a derv

As said before by Cantos, a defensive set is a one-handed physical weapon (spears are most often used so you can build adrenaline at range) with a shield. The weapon can have either a Fortitude or Defense mod, depending on whether you value the extra armor or health more. As a dervish, a Furious prefix would probably be good to have on it as well. The shield should have a Fortitude mod and a +10 vs <damage type> inscription or a -20% <condition duration> inscription. You should have multiple shields for different situations that you swap into the set as needed, but focus on obtaining commonly faced damage types first.

You will be in your scythe set most of the time, but switch to your defensive set whenever you can't feasibly attack (stacked with anti-melee or running to a different location) or are being spiked (reducing the strain on your healers by reducing the incoming damage and having a slightly bigger health buffer).

Spears with +5 armor and +5 energy and -5 energy as well as spears with +30 hp and the same energy modifiers.
That plus shields with + armor vs every damage type, reduction on cripple, poison, blind, weakness etc. Also, have a +60 -3 while hexed handy.
